History
The Austrian Pinscher is a breed of pinscher-type dog developed to drive and guard livestock; dogs much like these can be found in paintings from around the 18th century. They are also talented rat catchers and often lived in and guarded farmers' homes. This breed is distantly related to the German Pinscher. They get along generally well with other dogs and people they know. They are rather protective and alert, so they'll bark when they sense danger. They can be kept in apartments when given the proper exercise each day. They are also good around children and like all dogs, they need to be trained and disciplined the proper way.
