It may be necessary to pluck the Abruzzenhund’s coat. This is usually done by a dog trimming specialist but it is possible to learn how to do it yourself. The hair should never be clipped because this ruins the coat for many years. Hairs sometimes grow in the corners of the eyes, causing irritation; these should be dealt with promptly.

The Minimum Height is 30.0 CM and the Maximum Height is 45.0 CM and the Minimum Weight is 60.0 KG, and the Maximum Weight is 73.0 KG. The coat is usually black, but sometimes there will be brown and grey marks.
Grooming
The coat of the Abruzzenhund may need plucking. If you do not wish to bring your dog to a groomer, you can do it yourself. By clipping the hair, it will become damaged for years. Also, if you notice hair around the eyes, something should be done about it immediately.

Abruzzenhunds learn commands fairly quickly. Ensure consistency in the training but make sure there is ample variety in the drills so your dog will not become bored. "Abruzzenhund" is German and means "Abruzzo Dog" in English. Abruzzo is a region of Italy.
In Italy itself, the breed is called Pastore Maremmano Abruzzese, and in the United States, they are known as the Maremma Sheepdog or Maremma-Abruzzese.
They are large white dogs that are used primarily as livestock guardians and herding dogs. They are related to the Kuvasz and quite similar in size and appearance.
